Scout & Morgan Books welcomes kids of all ages when authors Aimee Bissonette and Margi Preus read from their books for Children’s Author Day on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Bissonette will be reading her newly released, “North Woods Girl,” a picture book beautifully illustrated by Claudia McGehee, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“North Woods Girl” tells the story of a little girl who takes a walk through the seasons with her Grandma at her north woods home. She discovers that the forest is an active populated place that engages all of the senses: hearing wood frogs peep, choosing the best skipping stone, watching squirrels gathering nuts and breathing crisp cold air.
“North Woods Girl” shares a message of appreciating the treasures of our natural surroundings. Bissonette is a writer, teacher, and lawyer living in the Twin Cities.
Newberry Honor Award winner Margi Preus will be reading and sharing her books from 1:30-3 p.m.
Her most recent book is “The Bamboo Sword,” a companion to her earlier book, “Heart of the Samurai.” Both books take a historical step back in time to 19th century Japan. Her books are suitable for middle-grade readers and young adults. She is the author of the highly praised “Enchantment Lake,” a Northwoods mystery as well as “Shadow on the Mountain” and “West of the Moon.”
Preus, who lives in Duluth, travels the globe to research her books and, along the way, has made friends in Japan, Norway and many other places.
