High School Principal-Activities Director

I would like to first off welcome back all students, parents and families to the beginning of a brand new school year.

We have much to be excited about as we embark on another school year. First off I would like to invite everyone to the Braham Area Schools Open House on Wednesday, Aug. 30 from 5-7:30 p.m. There will be a new student and seventh-grade orientation meeting in C100 at 6 p.m.

This evening will provide the students an opportunity to meet their teachers, check out their chromebooks and have a bite to eat as hot dogs and chips will be served. It is sure to be a great night for Braham.

I am excited to announce, in collaboration with East Central Minnesota Education Cable Cooperative (ECMECC), we have begun the East Central MN College Options (ECCO) program. This is a project designed to allow any eligible student the opportunity to earn college credits while enrolled right here in Braham. These college credits can be completed through an online learning option and gives our high school students an opportunity to gain additional college credits while still being able to fully enjoy their high school experience. What an awesome opportunity.

We will once again be offering the After School Study Lounge every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday for grades 7-12 from 3:15-4:15 p.m. in the High School Media Center; the study lounge will start on Monday, Sept. 18. This is an excellent opportunity for students to work on homework, get homework help, study, etc. Licensed high school teachers will be in attendance each day. Come and check it out.

Our fall athletics have started practices on Monday, Aug. 14. The coaches are excited about how much effort the students have been giving during practices to this point of the season. Cross Country will begin their competitions in Milaca on Monday, Aug. 28 at 10 a.m. The Volleyball team will begin their schedule with and Earlybird Tournament at St. Cloud State University on Friday, Aug. 25 at 8 a.m. The seventh and eighth-grade volleyball players will begin practice on Monday, Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. Football will begin regular season play with the first ever game in the new stadium vs. Chisholm on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 7 p.m. Also to note, the seventh and eighth-grade football players will begin practice on Monday, Aug. 28 at 3 p.m.

The fall musical participants have also been hard at work in preparation for their performance of “Shrek the Musical” in early November.

Stay tuned for results to all seasons in future articles.

Most importantly, I am excited about the opportunities of our students returning to the classroom. I cannot wait for the first day of school on Tuesday, Sept. 5. I am excited to see all of our students in action and preparing themselves for a bright future.
