Coach Lee Orvik:  “The girls played very well, the entire team played very well.  We had a great end to the season.  Our record is now 16-5, and we have a record of 73-27 in our last 100 matches– that’s the last five seasons. This team has exceeded expectations and fought very hard to be the best they could be all season.”

On Wednesday, Oct. 12, the No. 6 seed Bluejackets (16-5) next face No. 3 Duluth East (17-3) who swept Cloquet on Oct. 10. The C-I/East winner advances to the Oct. 17 semifinals which will be held at either Elk River H.S. or the Daytona Club.

No. 2 Princeton, No. 4 Big Lake and No. 5 Grand Rapids also advanced with tourney wins on Monday.

• On deck for the playoffs is the 7AA Singles & Doubles tourney where south side teams will play three rounds at Elk River Oct. 13. Lili Marlton (11th seed) and Abby Bensen (16th seed) will represent the Bluejackets in the singles brackets.
