To assist students in preparing and applying to college, Cambridge-Isanti High School will participate in statewide College Knowledge Month activities held during the month of October. Many colleges have pledged to waive application fees during this time.

As part of this initiative, CIHS will work with its students during the week of Oct. 10 to explore career and college options, plan their future goals, and apply to colleges. Professional volunteers from Anoka-Ramsey Community College will be available to assist students and families in completing college applications on Thursday, Oct. 13, (during conferences) from 4-8 p.m. in CIHS Computer Lab 141.

The goal of the program is to get more students applying to college in their senior year. During this event, students may apply to any two-year, four-year college-university, or training program in which they are interested.

Additionally, CIHS will host a MN College Goal event in November during which time seniors and their families will work to complete and submit FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) materials with the help of financial aid professionals from around the state. Seniors are able to apply for FAFSA as early as Oct. 1 using 2015 tax information – a significant benefit to families who would otherwise have to wait until Jan. 1, 2017 to file. Students and families are advised to check their school email accounts for more details.

If you would like more information about how CIHS is assisting families with the college application and financial aid process processes, contact Thia Kampa at tkampa@c-ischools.org.
