Dear Editor:
For a second season we have experienced considerable theft of produce at the Cambridge Community Garden. Gardeners rent a small plot and continually tend their plants during the growing season in hopes of a good harvest. That hope is dashed when selfish individuals steal the produce. The loss is a low blow to the garden plot holders.
The Garden is always open to the public. Individuals are free to view the plants, see the various ways to grow common crops, use the picnic tables, get a drink of water, rest on the benches under the shade trees, and even use the portable toilet. We have never locked the gates. Please enjoy our community garden but do not take others’ produce.
Or, rent a plot. Garden with your neighbors. Experience the joy of harvesting your produce.
