Cambridge Medical Center is offering free health screenings for adult community members as part of the Healthy Communities Partnership program.
Health screenings will be offered Sept. 7, from 7-10 a.m. and Sept. 19 from 6-9 p.m. in the Education Building at Cambridge Medical Center. The screening takes approximately 30 minutes and registration is required. Call 763-688-9339 to secure your spot at one of these free screenings.
The screenings will check participants’ blood pressure, pulse, cholesterol, blood sugar, and body mass index (BMI). From there, participants will be given recommendations and resources for setting up a wellness plan, including follow-up care, goal-setting, and free wellness coaching.
Over the last few months, the Healthy Communities Partnership team at Cambridge Medical Center has been working with local businesses and individuals to conduct over 250 free health screenings for adults throughout the community.
“Our goal is to get our communities healthy,” said Darcy Rylander, Program Coordinator. “We follow-up with participants and offer free wellness coaching to help them gain the skills to make permanent lifestyle changes.”
In addition to the free health screenings, Cambridge Medical Center’s web site offers an interactive tool called “Family Health Manager,” which allows all community members to register and take a free online health risk assessment.
“The assessment gives participants an overall health score between 1 and 100 and rates the user in 10 key areas,” Rylander said. “When completed, the user will see what they’re doing well, and where they need to improve.” It also includes goal-setting tools and recommendations to improve their wellness score.
The Healthy Communities Partnership (HCP) is a project in 13 cities throughout Minnesota and western Wisconsin to help community hospitals develop capacity in preventing chronic disease. Co-sponsors are Allina Health and the Penny George Institute for Health and Healing.
