Matthew Lattimore, Principal
Braham Area High School

It has been an exciting winter at Braham Area High School. We have been fortunate to have seen great success in our winter activities. I am still amazed at the commitment and dedication that our students and staff put into proving Braham truly is a school of excellence. We continue to see this both inside and outside the classroom.

Now that winter has come and gone, it is fun to think of the upcoming spring activities. In the past two weeks we have seen all of our spring activities get underway and weather permitting we will start to see events taking place.  As you have seen with our construction project, there will be few home events taking place. To see where our groups will be playing, check our website or call the high school office at 320-396-4444.

With the advent of spring we also see the start of the 4th and final quarter. We are now gearing up for the final push of the school year. The seniors are getting ready to complete their 24 1/2 credits needed for graduation with the commencement ceremony taking place June 3, at 7 p.m., in the East Gym. Our seventh, eighth, 10th and 11th-graders are preparing to take their MCA tests in April and May. The seventh-graders will be taking the MCA Math and Reading; the eighth-graders will be taking the MCA Reading, Math and Science; the 10th-graders will be taking the MCA Reading and Science; and finally the 11th-graders will be taking the MCA Math and the ACT test.

If you have a child in these grades, we have mailed a letter home with all the exact dates. We have also added some helpful tips you can do at home leading up to the test to ensure your child is fully prepared for the test. The testing season is a high stakes time for us in the district. It is the time of year where we see the amount of learning that the students have done over the school year. We feel confident that our students will be ready for the test and the results will be another example of the way our students and staff strive for excellence.

We also have Parent-Teacher Conferences coming up in April. Conferences will take place on April 5 and April 7 from 3-7 p.m. At the high school, stop by the guidance office and you will get a map and a list of your child’s teachers. You then can move about, speaking to some or all of your child’s teachers.

I look forward to seeing you at Braham Area High School this spring.
