The residents at Mill Ridge Commons in Cambridge had twinkles in their eyes and springs in their steps thanks to the efforts of a local church.
On Thursday, Feb. 4, over 30 youth and five adult leaders from Christ the King Catholic Church in Cambridge hosted a Valentine’s Day dance for the residents in Mill Ridge Terrace, a senior apartment building through GracePointe Crossing senior living communities.
Julie Tooker, community relations director for GracePointe Crossing, explained over 35 residents participated in the dance held at Mill Ridge and expressed her gratitude for the youth and adult leaders for organizing the dance.
The church youth and adult leaders brought corsages for each of the women to wear, and the women and men were escorted to their tables by the youth. The tables were decorated with white linen table cloths, red napkins and champagne glasses.

Each table also had a bottle of red sparkling juice, and hors d’oeuvres, valentines cookies and punch was served.
GracePointe Crossing recreation coordinator Linda Olson explained the youth sat with the residents at the tables and everyone had a great time visiting with each other. Pat Stenmo provided entertainment by playing the piano and CDs.
Olson said everyone in attendance enjoyed the dance.
“The residents really loved visiting with the kids and being escorted arm-in-arm to their tables,” Olson said. “Everyone had smiles on their faces, and everyone was out dancing. It was a very fun event.”
