The Isanti County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Committee was established in 2008 to support Isanti County’s military service members, veterans and their families by coordinating services and resources available to them before during and after periods of deployment.

Examples of financial support are assisting with monthly utility bills, rent, house payments, car payments, homeowners insurance, propane fills, appliance repair or replacement, furnace repairs, lawn mowing, funeral expenses, testing expenses related to disability claims, airfare and auto repairs.

Examples of activities they have provided for service members and their families are a breakfast for deploying 850th HEC soldiers and families, specialized training for first responders in how to work with service members with PTSD or TBI, a Christmas party for children of deployed soldiers of 850th HEC, care packages for deployed service members and over 500 quilted bedrolls presented to deploying-deployed service members.

To continue all of the above and other activities the Isanti County Beyond the Yellow Ribbon is hosting its second-annual golf tournament-scramble. It will be a 18-hole shot gun start at 1 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 25 at the Purple Hawk golf course in Cambridge.  This will be a 22-team tournament-scramble followed by dinner.

The planning and organizing of this year’s tournament is nearly complete. They are still accepting hole sponsors and donations. They currently have 20 teams registered and have room for two more teams. The cost for a non-veteran is $75 and for a veteran $40.
