A presentation on All Day Every Day Kindergarten for the 2014-2015 school year was given by Tim Truebenbach to the School Board. The 2013 Legislature provided funding each district for an All Day Every Day Kindergarten program for their students. The increase in revenue received from the state will offset the increase in expenses. There were 3 options for facilities were presented by Robyn Vosberg-Torgerson:
1) No change in facility footprints and try to house both current and expanded kindergarten programs as well as early childhood programs.
2) Lease an outside facility and move ECFE Early Childhood to their own building.
3) Build classrooms onto existing facilities Each facility would need 4 classrooms to accommodate projected K students.
There was concern about where the office at CPS would be located and if it would be operable by the start of the 2014-2015 school year.
Projected Kindergarten enrollment was shared as 424 in 2012-2013; projected 480 total students with 430 enrolled in 2013-2014 and projected 484 total students for 2014-2015.
It is the recommendation of the Administration that the School Board approve the funding of ADEK and the additional construction of space needed to accommodate our K students at the Regular School Board meeting at 7 p.m.
