The city of Isanti is gearing up for its annual Rodeo and Jubilee Days activities.
During the Isanti City Council meeting June 6, the council approved a special event permit application for the North 65 Chamber of Commerce to hold Jubilee Days events for the July 6 parade and July 8 Kids Day activities.
The parade will have between 150 and 200 entries including businesses, marching bands, a flyover, food and miscellaneous vendors. Setup for the parade will take place at the Isanti Middle School, and participants will travel along Oakwood Street Northwest, cross Whiskey Road Northwest and start down Main Street West. The official parade start is at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and Main Street West. An estimated 10,000 people are estimated to attend the parade, which begins at 6:30 p.m.
Kids Day events will take place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 8. There will be kids games, pony rides, bouncy houses, turtle races, outhouse races, a kiddie parade, craft fair, carnival food sales, vendor sales and a fun run. It is estimated 3,000 people will be in attendance that day. Most of the events take place in the area of Isanti City Hall, the Isanti Community Center and downtown Main Street.
“You guys do a fantastic job,” Isanti Mayor George Wimmer said. “This goes well every year. It’s our signature event and it’s just fantastic.”
Melissa Bettendorf, executive director of the North 65 Chamber of Commerce, thanked the community and the city for their support.
“All the sponsoring businesses and participating organizations in the community who make the Isanti Rodeo Jubilee Days happen – it’s truly a collaborative effort from many people in our community as well as the city, and so I just want to thank everyone who contributes their time,” Bettendorf said.
