Ernest “Ernie” Ludwig

Ernest “Ernie” Ludwig, age 89, of New Brighton and formerly of Isanti, passed away March 20, 2017 at home.
Ernest Carl Ludwig was born April 17, 1927 in Vermillion Township, Minnesota to Wilhelm and Emma (Becker) Ludwig. At a young age his family moved to Forest Lake where he was raised and attended school. Ernie served his country in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was honorably discharged in March of 1954. Ernie was united in marriage to Luverne Jouppe on May 19, 1956 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Circle Pines and lived in Lino Lakes. They moved to Isanti in December 1969 where they raised their two sons, Mark and Dale. Ernie owned his own business as a Water Well Contractor for 50 years. He was man of solid Christian faith, family values and hard work ethic. He also had a passion for cars and owned over 50 automobiles in his lifetime.
Ernie is survived by his loving wife, Luverne; sons, Mark (Lorie) Ludwig and their children Erich and Christa and Dale (Gayle) Ludwig and their children, Karl, Jennifer, Emma and Derek; and many other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Calvin, and sister-in-law Shirley.
Memorial service 11 a.m. Saturday, March 25th at GracePoint Church, 2351 Rice Creek Rd, New Brighton with a time for visiting held one hour prior. No flowers please. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Online condolences can be made at StrikeFuneral.com.
