
Bluejacket senior Kyle Chromy placed 4th at 220 at the stacked Minnesota Christmas Invite in Rochester.
WRESTLING UPDATES: The Cambridge-Isanti wrestlers finished in 12th place among the 33 teams battling it out at last weekend’s Minnesota Christmas Invitational held in Rochester. Apple Valley, top-ranked in Class AAA, powered its way to the tourney title while C-I’s Mississippi 8 partner St. Michael-Albertville was 4th.
Kyle Chromy owned the Bluejackets’ top placing in the individual brackets when he finished 4th at 220. Chromy had three falls while going 5-2 in the tourney.
Travis Swanson racked up one fall and three majors while taking 5th for C-I at 126. David Kent worked for three pins to place 6th at 152. Also placing 6th was Dakota Johnson at 195 who rode three straight falls into the semifinals. The final Bluejacket to place in the tourney was Cody Skog taking 7th at 160. James Fredricksen added three wins at 132 for C-I.
“I thought we had a strong showing overall. We experienced some tough losses that kept us out of the top 10 in the team standings– we were very close,” noted C-I Coach Neil Jennissen.
Tiger Wrestlers 5th at Wildcat Invite
Rush City-Braham totaled 125th points to place 5th at the Dec. 20 Chisago Lakes Invite won by the host Wildcats who are in the Tigers’ Section 7AA.
Leading the way for the Tigers was Jacob Lynch went 2-0 with two falls to win the 220 brackets. Dominic Montgomery was 2nd at 160. Placing 3rd for RC-B were Tyler Sitz at 132, Blaine Blazek at 170 and Luke Rands at 182.
