Fourteen members of the Four Seasons Garden Club of Isanti County visited Pinestead Tree Farms on Nov. 14 to learn some of the techniques for hand-made swags made by Helen Hartley, co-owner of Pinestead Tree Farms.

“I believe the number one secret is having fresh greens. I send the guys out to the fields almost daily for Balsam Fir and Fraser Fir clippings,” Hartley said.

Hartley then uses them to make wreaths and swags that range in size from about 18 inches to up to eight feet.

Club president Jonathan Erickson said, “The members had a great time making swags with Helen. What is so neat is that each swag is unique in its own special way.”
