Braham seventh- and eighth-grade students are gearing up for the 2016-2017 Americanism Essay Contest sponsored by the benevolent and protective order of the Elks Lodge. This year, the theme asks,“Why is it Important to Vote?”
Students in Carmen Johnson’s English class will be writing their original thoughts on this topic, showing their knowledge of proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation, and hoping to win some cash. Students will also be inspired by fellow high school students from Rebecca Swanson’s Civics and U.S. History classes as they visit Ms. Johnson’s English classes to talk about why voting is so important.
