Jack Peterson was born in Minneapolis, to Harry and Loretta Peterson. While still a toddler, he moved to a farm near Cobden and Sleepy Eye. He attended a country school, and Sleepy Eye high school. He was a graduate of Gustavus Adolphus College, class of 1951. As a lifelong educator, he taught high school math and physics, before earning his Masters
from the University of Wyoming and becoming a school principal.
Jack married Patricia Hohle in 1954 and in 1956 they moved to Braham where he became principal of the Braham High School. He and Pat had three daughters, Sue, Dixie and Julieann.
They lived in Braham and at their cabin on Lake Ossawinnamakee until her death in 2003, and Braham remained his primary home for nearly six decades.
In retirement, Jack and Pat traveled the world for 20 years. He continued to travel and enjoy time at his cabin, and especially enjoyed having his grandchildren visit him there. He also made a point of visiting them in San Diego and Austin TX.
He went to California for the winter in November of 2015 and remained there until his passing in Escondido on August 22, 2016 at the age of 90.
He is survived by his daughters, grandchildren Inger and Ian Shelton, and Anna, Eric and Nicolas Gerosolina, sons-in-law, cousins, and remembered by a lifetime of friends.
