The filing period closed Aug. 16 for Cambridge City Council, Cambridge-Isanti School Board and Braham City Council.
Cambridge City Council
Filing for the two open seats on Cambridge City Council, for four-year terms, are Jim Godfrey, Brandon Grell, Lisa Iverson (current council member), Chris Olson and Bob Shogren. Current Council Member Howard Lewis did not file for re-election.
Filing for the one open seat for the Nov. 8 special election, for a two-year term, are Kersten Barfknecht-Conley, Duane Bickford and Michael Stylski Sr.
Stylski was appointed to the open council seat during the Aug. 1 Cambridge City Council meeting due to the resignation of Tiffany Kafer. Stylski will serve in the open seat until the newly elected council member is sworn in during the Nov. 21 council meeting.
Cambridge-Isanti School Board
Filing for the three open seats, for four-year terms, on the Cambridge-Isanti School Board are Gary Hawkins, Carri Levitski, Heidi Sprandel, Brian Sturdevant and Gretchen Yagow. Hawkins and Sprandel filed for re-election to the board. School Board Member Darcy Winsor did not file for re-election.
Filing for the one open seat, during the Nov. 8 special election, for a two-year term, is Nathan Reibel. Reibel was recently appointed to the seat due to the removal of Kyle Johnson from the board.
Braham City Council
Current Braham mayor Patricia (Tish) Carlson filed for re-election for a two-year term as mayor.
Two four-year-term council seats are also open. Council Member Jeremy Kunshier filed for re-election. Also filing for council member is Shawn Sullivan. Council Member Vicky Ethen did not file for re-election.

The Isanti County News allows each candidate running for a local office one free filing statement announcing their candidacy.
Filing statements are not solicited by this newspaper. Candidates may submit a filing statement if they so desire; however, if a filing statement is not received by a candidate, there will not be any attempts by the newspaper to contact the candidate about the free filing statement.
Filing statements and candidate photos can be emailed to editor.countynews@ecm-inc.com or dropped off at or mailed to 234 S. Main St., Cambridge, MN 55008.
The announcement must be 300 words or less and may include the candidate’s photo. The newspaper reserves the right to edit filing statements. A candidate’s website, Facebook page, Twitter page, email addresses and other social media sites cannot be included with their filing statements. A candidate is allowed to put in their phone number for further contact information.
Candidates who filed for Braham City Council, Cambridge City Council and Cambridge-Isanti School Board must submit their filing statements by 4:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, for final publication in the Aug. 31 edition.
Free filing statements for these races will not be published after the Aug. 31 edition unless as a paid advertisement.
