Donald W. Magnuson

Donald Waldo Magnuson of Cambridge passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016 on his 95th birthday at The Commons at GracePointe Crossing.
He was born on August 12, 1921 in North Branch, MN to Melver and Martha (Rydeen) Magnuson. He grew up in North Branch and Richfield where he attended grade school. Don later purchase a farm in the North Branch area where he farmed for many years.
He met Marjorie Sliper and they were married on February 17, 1961 at the Little Brown Church in The Vale in Iowa. They lived in North Branch where they started their family and farmed until 1969 when they moved to Cambridge in the Goldenwood area, Don began working at the Cambridge State Hospital and retired from there in 1985.
Don and Marge moved to the Stanchfield area in the early 80’s and enjoyed being outdoors and working in their yard. They later moved back to Cambridge to a senior living community.
After retiring, Don and Marge traveled and enjoyed camping, they also went on several group trips with Peoples Bank. He was a member of the Cambridge Lutheran Church and enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles and reading. Don was a kind and gentle man that got along with everyone and was always teasing family and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Linda Brockner in 1984, wife Marjorie in October 2013, brother Harold Magnuson and sister Marian Engdahl.
He is survived by his sons Don Magnuson of Cambridge, Rick and wife Julie Magnuson of Zimmerman, four grandchildren Christine Brockner of Iowa, Steven Brockner of Mora, Brian Brockner of Fargo, ND, Elizabeth Ronning of Princeton, four great grandchildren Chase and Isaac Magnuson, Landon and Mya Ronning, sisters Margurite Sellman of North Branch, Doris Lundeen of St. Croix Falls, WI, brother Karl Warren Magnuson of White Bear Lake, as well as many other relatives and friends.
Memorial Service 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Cambridge Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior. Interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in North Branch.
