SAC’s Enrichment Center
Some people celebrate Senior Citizens Day on Aug. 14, when President Franklin Roosevelt signed the Social Security Act (1935). But in 1988, President Ronald Reagan declared Aug. 21 to be National Senior Citizens Day. This day was established in honor of senior citizens who have made positive contributions in their communities. It was also created to bring awareness of social, health, and economic issues that affect senior citizens.
As this day approaches, we feel it is a good time to remind our community about our senior center and what it has to offer. SAC’s Enrichment Center is a wonderful resource and gathering center for the seniors of our community. Its mission is to provide seniors of Isanti County the resources in which topical information on senior issues, nutritional, recreational, and minor clinical needs are met for our senior population 55 and over. The goal of SAC’s Enrichment Center is to ensure that seniors in different age brackets will remain active and engaged in their community.
We offer numerous informational sessions on important issues such as genealogy, legal aid, and good nutrition. SAC’s Café offers delicious home-cooked meals Monday-Friday and all ages are welcome. Our recreational activities include card playing, walking, stretching, and numerous day trips. There are seminars on health issues, foot care sessions, and blood pressure checks by trained professionals. Stop by to pick up a monthly calendar of our meals and activities. Or, if you have any questions or would like to suggest an activity that we should offer, call us at 763-689-6555. We would love to hear from you.
SAC’s Enrichment Center greatly appreciates all our senior citizens who have made numerous contributions to our community. In honor of Senior Citizens Day, we will be serving complimentary ice cream sundaes on Monday, Aug. 15, from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at SAC’s Café. Everyone is welcome.
