With the resignation of Cambridge City Council Member Tiffany Kafer, the Council needs to appoint a person to fill the vacant position on City Council until someone is elected during the Nov. 8 election.
If interested in applying to fill this Council vacancy, an application needs to filled out and returned to Cambridge City Hall by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27.
Applications are available on the city website, www.ci.cambridge.mn.us, or at Cambridge City Hall, 300 Third Ave. NE, Cambridge. Completed applications should be either dropped off or mailed to Lynda Woulfe, City Administrator, City of Cambridge, 300 Third Ave. NE, Cambridge, MN 55008.
During a special City Council meeting from 2-3 p.m. on Aug. 1, Council Members will pick one of the applicants to serve from the applications submitted and swear that person into office on Aug. 1. Applicants should plan on attending the regular 3 p.m. City Council meeting on Aug. 1.
Qualifications for filling the vacancy are:
• You are eligible to vote in Minnesota.
• You are, or will be on assuming office on Aug. 1, 21 years of age or more.
• You will have maintained a residence in the city of Cambridge for at least 30 days before the appointment to be made on Aug. 1.
• You are not a full-time, permanent employee of the city of Cambridge.
