Looking for a fun and fulfilling way to serve the vibrant East Central Minnesota arts community, and hang out with creative and talented people while you do it?

The East Central Regional Arts Council is accepting applications for membership on its board. ECRAC is the primary funding source for artists and arts organizations in our area, awarding more than $300,000 in funds for the arts last year. They always welcome new talent from the communities. There are currently board member openings for residents of Isanti County.

They seek people who are into various art forms and perspectives, artists working in all creative disciplines, artists from communities of color, arts supporters and collectors, and people with a knowledge of the regional community. You’ll learn about arts activities in the area, increase your knowledge of grant writing and grant review, network with artists and professionals, and offer input into matters that affect the arts and the quality of life in Region 7E.

ECRAC offers grants and technical assistance to artists and nonprofit arts organizations in Chisago, Isanti, Kanabec, Mille Lacs, and Pine counties. They are an independent 501c3 organization that administers four grant programs for organizations and four for individual artists.

The board meets the third Tuesday evening of each month at our Braham office. Members review and award funding to artists and organizations. They also assess our area’s art needs, and help develop programs that impact the arts community. Board members are volunteers, but receive meeting stipends and mileage reimbursement for meetings. Board members also attend grant-funded events and represent ECRAC in their local communities.

ECRAC programs are made possible with funds provided by The McKnight Foundation, and by the voters of Minnesota through appropriations from the general fund and the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

If this piques your interest and you would like to become more involved in the vibrant arts community, consider becoming a board member. The application deadline is Friday, July 15. Contact the ECRAC office at info@ecrac.org, or call 320-396-2337 to receive more information and a nomination form. The nomination form can also be found at http://tinyurl.com/ecracnomform.
