Eagle Scout project to help with High Point Park development

Bryan Knowles appeared before the Braham City Council during its June 7 meeting.

A playground will be built at High Point Park at 9 a.m. Friday, June 24. The community is encouraged to come and help put the structure together.

For his Eagle Scout project, Knowles will be leading a group of people who will be landscaping and installing benches at the playground on June 24 and possibly June 25. The council agreed to cover the costs of the landscaping materials and benches.

In other news:

• James McCarthy, a traffic operations engineer with the Federal Highway Administration, presented his ideas on how to make the Highway 107 and Highway 65 intersection safer. No action was required at this time.

• Jay Mankie expressed his intent to open a micro brewery or a brew pub with limited hours.

• Kurt Weeda from the Horizon’s Group discussed his plans with the council to put up a billboard-sized “Visit Friendly Braham” sign at the junction of highways 65 and 107.

• The council approved the certification of approval of the Isanti County Election Equipment Plan, which includes updated ballot counting equipment.

• The council accepted four donations totaling $10,030. The money is designated for fireworks and specific benches and signage.
