Matthew Lattimore, Principal
Braham Area High School
As we wrap up another school year, I ask myself at the same questions again, “Where has the time gone?” It is like we start the year, we blink and then it is done.
Our students did a fantastic job on their MCA testing this year. Scores will not be made available to the public until the end of June. As a staff, we took time this year to align our curriculum to the standards to ensure the students were ready for these tests. Because of the hard work and dedication of the staff, our students were well prepared.
Spring sports update. We have started section play in all of the spring sports. If you get a chance and want to enjoy the beautiful spring weather we are having, check out the website to find where these teams are competing to take in one or more of the events. Our students greatly appreciate and feel the support of our community. For that I thank you.
On June 3 we sent off our next graduating class from Braham. This class has seen much success in its time here. As I told them at graduation, they have completed one journey of their lives and now will embark upon another. I am confident this class is prepared with the knowledge and skills to continue the successes into their post-secondary lives.
One last topic to discuss is the ongoing construction project. As you can see by the school, fields are really starting to take shape. At the time of this submission, fencing on the ball fields were going up, as were the bleachers at the stadium. It is fun to see the new progress that the crews have been making on a daily basis. Inside construction will really pick up as school ends and the crews do not have to work around the students. Demolition of the multi-purpose room and the start of the new woodshop are under way. All of this will be completed by Aug. 1 and ready for next school year. Just a reminder that there will still be no home football games in the fall, as the grass will not be ready to be played on until the 2017-2018 school year. Check out the website for locations of those fall games. I wish all the best this summer and look forward to communicating with you again in the fall.
