Braham softball went 1-2 in the Section 5A playoffs to end their 2016 season. The Bombers opened with an 11-1 win over Pillager May 24. Isle then topped Braham 4-1 on May 26 in Mora, and Pillager ousted the Bombers 10-4 that evening.
C-I SOFTBALL
Andover scored three runs in the sixth and tacked on two more in the seventh to defeat host Cambridge-Isanti 5-3 in the opening round of the Section 7AAA tournament. The Bluejackets next will face St. Francis at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 8 at Forest Lake’s Fenway Fields.
BRAHAM GOLF
Senior Alli Anderson qualified for her third-straight State golf tournament when she finished second overall in the May 25-26 Section 7A tourney. Anderson and Emma Downing led the Bomber girls to a runner-up team finish behind North Woods.
BRAHAM BASEBALL
Braham opened the Section 5A baseball tournament by ripping past Onamia 10-0 in five innings May 26. The Bombers will take on Isle at 4:30 p.m. May 31 at Hinckley as the brackets go into double-elimination format.
CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BASEBALL
Cambridge-Isanti was seeded No. 8 in Section 7AAAA, sending the Bluejackets to top-seed Duluth East for the June 1 opener (4:30 p.m.). The Bluejackets closed the regular season by defeating Albany 7-5 at CHS Field in St. Paul, then they dropped a 3-1 game to Andover and a 10-5 game to Grand Rapids this week.
CAMBRIDGE-ISANTI BOYS TENNIS
Jay and Devin Gislason went 1-1 in the Section 7AA boys tennis doubles tournament for the Bluejackets at Elk River May 26. Jed Bingham in singles also went 1-1 for Cambridge-Isanti.
