The summer wine and sign event will be held from 7-8:30 p.m. June 2 at Scout and Morgan Books in Cambridge. This is a special evening to relax with fellow book lovers, enjoy some wine and cheese and listen to Leaf share about her latest book.
The book takes the reader on a journey through the Boundary Waters Canoe Area and winds through the rivers of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Canada. It is “part travelogue, part natural and cultural history.”
As Leaf explains, the book is about how one family has grown together on the open water, searching for adventure and taking in the natural world. “Portage” is a family’s 35-year adventure traveling across the country, visiting lakes up north in Minnesota, rivers in Wisconsin and the bayou in Louisiana.
Leaf has been writing and paddling all her life, and she has found a way to continue to do both. Ever since she was a child, she has been writing about the world in front of her. Image may be NSFW.

“I have written all my life; I always kept journals as a kid,” she said.
She has currently published four books, that all involve her love for nature. When she is not writing, Leaf is a trained biologist who is constantly connected with nature.
While her book talks a great deal about adventures on the water, she has a few favorite places that she always makes sure to paddle during the summer. Her two favorite rivers are the Sunrise River and the Rum River.
The event will feature a slideshow presentation of some of Leaf’s adventures. She will also read parts of her book and interact with and take questions from the audience. Image may be NSFW.
