The Friends of the Sunrise River will hold their annual River Clean-up followed by a potluck picnic Saturday, Sept. 7.
Interested parties are asked to meet at Sunrise Park at 2 p.m. with their canoes/life-vests. They will divide into groups to clean various sections of the river. The sections are: Kost Dam Park to County Road 11, County Road 11 to Highway 95, Highway 95 to Sunrise Park, and Sunrise Park to the St. Croix. After the clean-up, you will meet back at Sunrise Park for the picnic. Bring some meat to grill and a dish to pass.
If you aren’t able to participate in the River Clean-up, you are still welcome to come to the picnic. Just show up at Sunrise Park around 5 p.m.
Their mission is to protect and enhance the long-term ecological health of the Sunrise River watershed through:
• Identify issues through background research, collection, and analysis of data.
• Communicate through networking, outreach, political action, and education.
• Coordinate and implement appropriate action strategies.
Dues are $10 for individuals, $25 for small businesses, and $100 for big businesses. For more information, visit www.sunriseriver.org.
