I must admit that I’m not a big fan of writing about myself. But since I’ve been invited to, here it goes.
My name is Shawna Carpentier and I am the newest reporter at the Isanti County News. You will see me with notebook and camera in hand as I connect with the community and share the stories of your neighbors and friends.
I was born and raised in Cambridge. You never know where life will bring you and it brought me back here, to my roots, after I completed my education at Iowa State University and the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. I graduated from UW-RF with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and a minor in Sociology.
Getting to meet new people and use my passion for writing makes my endeavor with the Isanti County News an exciting one. Simply said: I love life.
I’m fortunate to have had some pretty awesome internship experiences with the Kansas City Chiefs, The Associated Press and Warpaint Illustrated, to name a few. I also contribute to the Minnesota Christian Examiner and I truly enjoy the work I get to do in journalism.
Some things that I enjoy are sports, fitness, family and a good cup of coffee. I’m a chatter box and I appreciate humor and genuine kindness. I look forward to getting out in the community and covering the news.
You can introduce yourself or drop me a good story line at 763-691-6017 or send me an email at shawna.carpentier@ecm-inc.com.
