The following are notes from the March 21 Braham Area School Board meeting:
• The Board approved a resolution to discontinue and reduce the following educational programs and positions due to the financial condition of the school district:
Two – 1.0 full-time equivalent elementary classroom teachers.
1.0 full-time equivalent special education teacher.
.4 full-time equivalent high school social studies teacher.
.25 high school English teacher.
.2 full-time equivalent technology integrationist.
.5 full-time equivalent high school Spanish teacher.
.67 full-time equivalent high school family and consumer sciences teacher.
.5 full-time equivalent kindergarten art teacher.
1.0 full-time equivalent early childhood special education teacher.
.64 full-time equivalent pre-k teacher.
.25 full-time equivalent chemical health counselor.
.8 full-time equivalent health secretary.
1.0 full-time equivalent building security monitor.
1.0 full-time equivalent elementary head custodian.
1.0 full-time equivalent technology secretary.
1.0 full-time equivalent ISS para.
Part-time, 5 hours per day, cleaner-sweeper.
.2 full-time equivalent community education director.
Attendance-special education secretary, reduce position 10 days.
• As a result of these cuts, an increase in hours was approved for the technology-media secretary at the elementary school from 6.5 to 7 hours per day; the activities-community education secretary position by 10 days per year; and to add a full-time cleaner-sweeper due to increased responsibilities in these areas effective July 1, 2016.
• The following fee increases were approved: ticket prices up $1; season passes up $10; student parking up $10 per semester; and student participation fees up $10 per activity-sport.
• The board approved the memorandum of understanding between SEIU Local No. 284 Custodian-Groundskeeper unit and the district.
• The Board accepted donations from Target, Central Insurance Services, Braham Moose Lodge No. 1544, Bert’s Auto Body, Bur-Lock Services, Carl G. Martin and Rev. Daniel R.C. Olson. The donations will be used as designated by the donors.
• The school board chair and two members will hand out diplomas at graduation at 7 p.m. June 3.
• The next regular school board meeting will be held at 7 p.m. April 18 in the B100 – Community Room at Braham Area High School.
