Local veterinarian receives prestigious award

Dr. Jennifer Schurrer received the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Association’s Emerging Leader Award during the 119th MVMA annual meeting in Minneapolis Feb. 4-6.

The emerging leader award is given to MVMA members who has graduated  from veterinary school within the past 10 years and has demonstrated achievement and leadership through veterinary community involvement.

Schurrer is a veterinarian and practice manager with East Central Veterinarians. In addition to her experience as a practice manager and veterinarian, she has also worked in the academic arena as an instructor and principle investigator with the Minnesota School of Business. Schurrer has been an invaluable participant and is the current chair of the MVMA Continuing Education Committee.

She has held this position for six years and has worked tirelessly with her committee and veterinarian colleagues to ensure that the veterinary profession in Minnesota has quality continuing education  events to attend each year.

Under her leadership, the MVMA has expanded its continuing education seminar format to include online webinars for its spring, summer, Academy and fall staff seminars.

Her commitment to staying abreast of veterinary continuing education here and across the country have been instrumental in her leadership of the Continuing Education Committee.
