A Wisconsin woman is facing a felony drug charge after being found in possession of methamphetamine at a home in Isanti County.

Novotny Rose Mitthun, 20, of Frederic, Wisconsin, was charged before Judge James Dehn March 22 in Isanti County District Court in Cambridge with felony fifth-degree drug possession. Bail for Mitthun was set at $10,000 without conditions or $5,000 with conditions and her next court appearance for March 31.

At the time of her arrest on March 20, Mitthun had an active misdemeanor warrant out of Isanti County.

According to the criminal complaint:

On March 20, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Isanti County deputy sheriffs Noah Heiller and Doug Barron were asked to make contact with a female about a situation going on at her residence, in that she was concerned about potential squatters at the residence.

The female informed the deputies she went to the residence so she could pick up some her belongings because the property was being foreclosed on. When she got there, she could tell there were people in the garage. She stated she was concerned for her safety and wanted an escort from law enforcement to the residence. Barron escorted her to the residence where he observed the side door of the garage had a broken door frame, which would be consistent with a forced entry or a burglary.

Once inside the residence, Barron observed two people inside of the garage of the residence sitting on a couch. Barron learned one of the people had an active felony warrant out of Pine County, and an active misdemeanor warrant out of Isanti County.

Shortly thereafter, Heiller and Isanti County Deputy Jason Sievert arrived on scene and the deputies were notified that Mitthun was sleeping in the main floor bedroom underneath some blankets. As Mitthun got out of bed, the deputies noticed she was sleeping on what appeared to be a methamphetamine pipe.

The suspected methamphetamine pipe was tested by Isanti County Deputy Sheriff John Gillquist, who is a certified field investigator drug officer through the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension, and the pipe found with Mitthun in the bed did test positive for methamphetamine.
