The Shalom Thrift Shop of Cambridge announced giving a record yearly amount of $165,500 to its community partners at the annual meeting Feb. 13.

Shalom’s partners assist area individuals to pay for food, clothing and other qualifying needs. In addition, since its inception in 1981, Shalom has now distributed $1,980,210 to Cambridge area organizations.

The dollars given back to the community come both from supportive customers and generous individuals who donate their quality items to Shalom. Since Shalom is operated 100 percent by volunteers, it can give its proceeds back to the community after paying operating costs. Shalom thanks all who choose to shop at and donate their used items to support their mission of helping those in need.

Shalom accepts good saleable items such as: electrical items for the house, cookware, home decorating, linens of all kinds, clothing, shoes, books, games, toys, small tools, some kinds of furniture and many other types of merchandise. Shalom is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and closes earlier at 3 p.m. on Saturdays.
