A “Marriage in the Bible Series” will be hosted at Faith Lutheran Church on Sundays, Jan. 3, 10, 17, & 24 at 10:15 a.m.

The Bible has a lot of wonderful and troubling things to say about marriage. As we start the new year, we’d like to take some time to think about this most basic of human relationships.

Why did God institute marriage in the first place? How did people in the Bible handle marriage? What does Old Testament law say about marriage? Is marriage between a man and woman only? Is it important to “make it legal”? Is “just living together” different depending on how old you are? What about divorce—should we avoid it at all costs?

We’ll look at all these questions and others, along with your questions in these four sessions. The Bible has some fun stories about marriage, and some of what you’ll learn will probably surprise you. We’ll hear about Joseph and Mary, Ruth and Boaz, Hosea and Gomer, Jacob and Leah and Rachel and Bilhah and Zilpah (what was that guy’s deal?), and of course, Adam and Eve. Come ready to hear and discuss different ideas with your classmates. The Bible is intentionally entertaining with a lot of this, so come ready to smile a little and maybe even laugh.

Coffee and cookies will be served, and everyone is invited to attend. Faith Lutheran Church is located at 109 2nd Ave. N. in Isanti.
