The Otto Bremer Trust has continued its mission of helping community organizations by awarding a grant to Industries Inc.
The grant is for $65,000 and will go a long way in helping Industries Inc. improve the amenities they offer their clients.
Industries Inc. has locations in Cambridge and Mora that offers job training and placement programs for adults with disabilities. The Otto Bremer Trust is a group dedicated to helping communities grow, so the two groups’ efforts go hand in hand.
According to its website, The Otto Bremer Trust was created by Otto Bremer in 1944 to assist in the growth of rural communities. Its mission statement is to “assist people in achieving full economic, civic and social participation in and for the betterment of their communities.” By assisting an organization such as Industries Inc., it is doing just that.
Industries Inc. helps adults with disabilities find work in a way that suits them, as well as educate employers in the community on the truths of hiring an adult with disabilities. Industries Inc.’s programs are designed to teach adults what their strengths are and how to apply them at work.
Industries Inc. Co-executive Director Denise Johnson said she is excited about what the grant will mean for the organization and its clients.
“The grant is huge,” Johnson said. “The money will have a strong impact on what we do here.”
Johnson indicated that some of the biggest obstacles the group faces are lack of transportation and dated technology. The grant will allow Industries Inc. to improve upon both of these areas, providing adequate transportation and updated technology that will help their clients become more prepared for the workplace.
“We’re in more of a rural community, so transportation is difficult,” Johnson said. “It will help our staff better interact with our clients.”
