Sherrill “Cy” Powell, age 75, of Isanti died unexpectedly at home December 26, 2015.
Sherrill Eugene Powell was born October 31, 1940 at home in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Theodore and Louise (Weiscup) Powell. He was raised and attended school in Missouri Valley. On February 11, 1961 he was united in marriage to Barbara Taylo and they made their home in Omaha, Nebraska. They later lived in North St. Paul and then in 1971 they moved to Isanti. Sherrill was known to many friends as “Cy” and his family affectionately called him “Papa”. Cy worked as a forklift operator at 3M for over 35 years, retiring in 2002.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, watching and attending sporting events, and woodworking. He especially loved being with and talking to his family. Cy was a caring, sentimental person who enjoyed caring for others. He will be dearly missed.
Sherrill will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Lori (Tom) Olson of North Branch, Cheryl Grams of Cambridge, Tammi (Dan) Mujwid of Isanti; two brothers, Merle (Bernadine) Powell, Max (Jane Ann) Powell; one sister, Betty (Jim) Feld; sister-in-law, Alice Powell; nine grandchildren, Kelsey (Eric), Lindsey, Mallory, Derrick, Alysha, Amber, Emily (John), Kyle, Jacob; one great-grandson, Connor; and by many other relatives and friends.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; three brothers, Jerry, Kenneth Harley; two sisters, Susie (his twin sister) Lois; and two grandsons, Neil and Michael.
Funeral services 11 a.m. Saturday, January 2nd at Cambridge Lutheran Church. Visitation one hour prior to the service Saturday at the church and also from 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, January 1st at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel. Interment Isanti Union Cemetery.
